Hi Arta Friends, maybe you often hear that if the car engine just started, turn the AC on ini high speed can damage the engine. About this thing, we will give you some explanation. Turning on the AC itself does not directly damage the vehicle engine. However, there some aspects that need to be considered:

1. Additional Load on the Machine
When the AC turn on, the AC compressor need power for the engine to operate, this adds more load to the car engine, mainly when the engine work in high external temperature. Although this can increase fuel consumption, in normal condition, modern engine planned to hold this extra load without problem.

2. Overheating
When the AC turn on, radiator and vehicle cooling system need to work extra to remove the extra heat that produced by AC compressor. If the cooling system doesn’t work well or if the vehicle in the condition that complicate heat transfer (such as: stuck in traffic on a very hot day), there is a potential for overheating of the engine. This can cause a serious issue that such as damage to engine components or even a burning engine.

3. AC can “”overload”” the engine and accelerate wear
AC Itself is a part of system that designed for vehicle and Its use within reasonable limits should not cause significant damage to the machine.

So, while turn the AC on in the high temperature does add load to the vehicle, this thing usually wont damage the engine if your vehicle in a good condition and the cooling system works fine. But, it’s still important to pay attention to overheating signs, such as increase in engine temperature or illuminated temperature warning light, and take steps to cool the engine if necessary.
